TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 14th Islamic Unity Conference of London was held virtually on Friday evening.

“Role of Human Values in Realization of World Peace in View of the Quran” was the theme of this year’s event.

Addressing the conference, Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought Hojat-ol-Islam Hamid Shahriari said without a unity-oriented approach, one cannot think of realization of the Muslim Ummah’s objectives such as achieving power and progress.

He also highlighted the importance of common human values that have their roots in the Fitra (human nature.

Referring to verse 30 of Surah al-Rum, “Then set your face upright for religion in the right state-- the nature made by Allah in which He has made men; there is no altering of Allah's creation; that is the right religion, but most people do not know”, he said humanity gets closer to the right religion when he gets close to human values.

Hojat-ol-Islam Shahriari also cited verse 28 of Surah al-Baqara, “Believers, all of you, enter the peace and do not follow in Satan's footsteps; he is a clear enemy to you,” and said peace cannot be established without establishment of human values.

He said there are two fronts in today’s world, one paying lip service to human rights but filling the world with bloodshed and murder and spreading corruption on the earth in the name of defending democracy, freedom and human rights and the other fighting Taghut and the enemies of humanity.

Peace and calm will not be created in the world unless Islamic principles that guarantee domination of human values are established in society, he went on to say.
